I met up with my junior high BFF Melissa the other day and left wondering why the heck it took so long for us to finally reconnect in person! Besides kids and college and 20+ years of life experiences, it was like no time had passed at all.

Last Sunday, I was coughing too much to go to church, but not sick enough to stay home all day, so we finally walked around the Lafayette Reservoir. It was a little chilly and certain children complained almost the entire 3 miles, but there was indeed a park at the end (we had our fingers crossed) and it felt good to get the family outside! And then curl up in bed for the rest of the day.

Hailey and I were the only two in our family to join VDD swim team for the annual ice skating day (basketball is taking over the boys’ weekends), but we had a blast and Hailey mostly stayed on her feet! This is her figure skater pose… ⛸

We finished off Winter Break by going to the San Jose Tech Museum with my dad! They were all fascinated but squeamish at the Body Worlds exhibit, I didn’t throw up on the VR flying simulator , and the favorite thing was experiencing many of the major earthquakes around the world.

Our final stop was at the University of Southern California for Jake’s grad student orientation. What??! Yes, you read that right! Jake is doing a business/technology/design masters program at the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy. It’s a remote program, so he’ll do most of it from home. And because I’m so proud of him, I forced him to take this picture in front of the Tommy Trojan statue with his kids, attempting to flex every single muscle of his body. #usc

On our way back up the coast, we stopped at the USS Midway Museum for one last hurrah with my brother’s family. It was amazing! So many buttons and switches to touch and pilot/captain chairs to sit in. We stayed until closing but could have spent another 2 hours there! Wish we had more time to spend in San Diego, but we had one last stop before home…
