This year Rushton aged up in swim team, which means longer practices and races. He struggled with the change at first, but thankfully, he seems to have hit his groove now. I love how swim team is both a team sport and an individual sport – even when/if you’re not beating other competitors, you’re still racing to beat your own best times. And I love watching the handshakes in the lanes after each race – so much good sportsmanship! These are a few of the things that make the chaos of swim team life worth it.

Pie tin pin cushion – tutorial by Lori Holt and fabric by Bonnie & Camille. I’m not usually a pie fan, but I’ll take two of these, please! Birthday gift for a sewing friend, but I want one for me, too! #makersgonnamake #illsleepwhenimdead

I lovingly dedicate this post to all of the wonderful people who post their class party ideas on the internet. I hadn’t planned a thing yet when I sat down at 9 p.m. the night before to think about Rushton’s end of year class party, but by 9 a.m., I was ready with 5 fear factor games that knocked their 3rd grade socks off! Digging for coins in kitty litter, dropping marbles into glass bottles using only their toes, transferring slimy oily spaghetti across the playground by handfuls, water balloon toss, and an icky facts quiz. They loved it!

While I was powering through the year-end chaos with the kids last week, Jake was living his best life in New York City. Hailey was so happy I stayed for recess after helping with the 1st grade party. She just wanted to sit on the Buddy Bench and snuggle while her cute friends stopped by to say hi to us.

School’s out for S U M M E R !!! ️ Nachos for dinner in the front yard and eating cold hot fudge from the jar was about all the celebration I could muster after the week we’ve had. But yay! I’m most happy about not needing to have everyone dressed, fed, and out the door before 8 am. Congrats to all you parents and kids out there for making it through another school year!

Hailey’s Girl Scout troop decided to use some of their cookie money to go to Fairyland today, so thank you to everyone who bought cookies! The sunshine and blooming flowers paired perfectly with the rides and cute friends.

Logan and his baseball team ran the bases and collected trophies at their closing ceremony on Saturday. Bless the coaches for their patience this season… These kids were squirrelly and energetic and occasionally temperamental, but they definitely loved playing baseball! And then we ended with a pizza party, because it’s a law that every sports team must end each season with a pizza party. ️
