Leaves, glorious LEAVES!

Leaves, glorious LEAVES!

I was raking the leaves in our front yard the other day, and Rush was totally fascinated by the crunchy orange leaves.  He ran all through the yard barefoot and crashed through the piles of leaves.  We never had enough leaves fall in our Utah yard because all the trees were teeny tiny, so this is something new for Rush!

He also had fun hiding his cars in the leaves – luckily he found them all before the lawn mower did…

Backyard stuff

Backyard stuff

Some people across the street are moving and I saw them hosing off a bunch of playset stuff.  I boldly went over and asked if they were selling the stuff, and they gave it all to me for free!  Rad.  So now Rushton has a new slide, a big plastic chair, and a swimming pool/play structure/slide thing (but only the pool part is pictured here).  He LOVES all of it.  Yay for free stuff!

Another post about Rushton

Another post about Rushton

I think I was a little over-worried that baby Hailey was going to get all the attention and we’d all forget about Rushton, but I seem to post more about Rush than I do about Hailey.  Rush is just at such a cute age (but isn’t every age cute when it’s your child?) and he says/does the most hilarious things every single day.  So here’s another one about him…

I spy with my little eye… something that doesn’t belong in the fridge.  Can you see it?

And this is how he left his cars the other night (don’t mind the totally gross streaks on the dishwasher that shine with the flash…):

He’s always up to something!

I guess when I ignore my children, they take care of each other.  Rush put this blanket on Hailey and is feeding her an empty bottle.  He totally adores her – he’s always going up to “hi” her, kiss her, hug her, he giggles and exclaims “She turn over!” whenever she rolls over, he’s always saying “so cute,” and whenever she cries, he puts his arm around her and says, “What’s wrong, Little Girl?”  And often, out of the blue, he says “I love Haywee.”  I hope this sweetness lasts forever…

My little reader

My little reader

Rushton LOVES to read (well, to be read TO), and it’s not unusual for me to find him sitting on the floor reading his books out loud by himself.  Of course, it’s just the words that he’s memorized, but it melts my heart every time!

My favorite is when he gets the nursery rhyme book out and sings the Wheels on the Bus with all the hand actions.  I caught this stealth video yesterday while he was in action.  So cute!

Bare midriff

Bare midriff

Geez, good thing I googled the spelling of “midriff”, else  I would have put “mid-drift” and that would have been SO embarrassing!  I wonder how many readers I would have lost…

Anyways, methinks this top is getting a wee bit too small on the little miss…

And good grief, she has been giving me a run for my money in the sleep department this week.  Hailey went from being a pretty decent sleeper (one feeding at 3 a.m.) to a horrible sleeper!  Several nights this week, she’s been up at 1 a.m., 4 a.m., 5:30 a.m. and then 7 a.m., and her naps are barely longer than an hour.  We’ve got to get this fixed!!!  Pray for me…

Best day of Rushton’s entire life

Best day of Rushton’s entire life

A few weeks ago we went to a…I don’t even know what to call it.  It had a ball pit, a giant blow-up slide, a bounce house, and a jungle gym type thing.  Regardless of what it was called, Rush was in HEAVEN.  He wouldn’t even slow down for one second, so all my pictures looked like this:

and this:

And for the life of me, I could not get a good picture of Rush and his friend Jack together, so this one will have to do:

The best part was how Rushton kept throwing himself over the sidewall of the ball pit.  He laughs his head off every time he watches this video.  I love this little boy!

Costco pizza

Costco pizza

Every time we go to Costco, Rush asks for pizza.  I usually say yes because 1.) Costco pizza is delicious, 2.) it’s such an ordeal to take 2 small children to a place like Costco that we’re all cranky and hungry by the end of it, and 3.) it’s one of the few things that Rush will eat besides crackers, cereal, and milk.

We always use a bunch of forks so that Rush can eat with one fork while I’m cutting pizza into small pieces with another fork (it’s MUCH cleaner than eating it with his hands).  And he inevitably drops a fork or two in the process, so no matter how many forks I bring to the table, we use them all.  Good times.
