My cute little twin nieces turn 2 this weekend! We just can’t get enough of them. Tacos by me and grasshopper cake by @cecilieblee, books wrapped by Hailey, cards made by Logan, jellybeans and LEGOs shared by Rushton. Happy birthday, girls!
The kids were out of school but I was busy this morning so we stayed home. By afternoon, the green hills and sunshine were beckoning me! I took the kids on a “walk in the hills” (because if I call it a “hike”, they stage a revolt) that was supposed to be easy. The first portion was almost straight up!! But the 360 view from the top was absolutely spectacular. Along the trail, we saw wildflowers, monarch butterflies, and tadpoles in the pond. There’s so much beauty right here in our backyard! I liked the hike so much that I went back after dropping the kids off, to retrieve Logan’s baseball team hat from some tall grass at the tip top of the hill. ♀️
Rushton chose to learn cello this year at school, and tonight was the big show! A few nearby elementary schools performed with the orchestras of the local middle school and high school. I’m so proud of Rush for trying something new, while still keeping up with piano, school, and sports. Crazy how my tiny baby has grown into such a fun and accomplished big kid! ️
After a rough morning (or rough lots-of-times), Logan and I needed a reset. Snuggling and silly selfies did the trick.
Rushton, a split second before hitting a grand slam!!!
This weekend, my cute Brownie troop volunteered at the food bank, bagging apples, oranges, and pears. They had so much fun supporting such a great cause!
Jake has spent countless hours as the little league president preparing for opening day – helping draft teams, creating the schedules for all divisions, coordinating uniforms, PREPPING THE FIELDS, obtaining permits, establishing a partnership with the Oakland A’s, tracking registration stats, yakking on the phone for dayzzzzz, and so much more. All while working full time, being a dad/husband, getting As in his USC graduate classes, and student teaching a class this semester. If that sounds like bragging, I’m not even sorry about it! I’m just so glad that we’ve made it past this weekend.
Baseball season is officially open! Jake and the league put together a fantastic opening day. ️ (Just don’t ask me about trying to manage my squirrely 5yo in the picture line for over an hour. I’m still not ready to talk about it. )
Friday was Rushton’s Cub Scout pinewood derby, and his car named “Caution” won first place in the Webelos division (not counting the Webelos who took first prize overall)! The new track was sleek and quick. Such a fun night with our pack!
We hit 1,000 blends!
