12/4/19 – We still had a few ounces of energy left after Teotihuacán and Reino Animal, so we finished strong with fresh churros and chocolate española from El Churrería El Moro. It was mesmerizing to watch them cook and cut the churros, and the chocolate was beyond divine.
12/4/19 – Reino Animal is like a petting zoo but for actual zoo animals—we went on a safari ride through gazelles, giraffes, camels, water buffaloes, zebras, and ostriches, just to name a few. We could even feed many of them! It was super cool but also kinda gross to get our hands covered in so much animal slobber and see close-ups if their gnarly mouths. For part of the safari, we boarded a double-caged car so we could drive through predators like tigers, lions, and wolves. We also caught part of a dog show and walked through an aviary with several emus and peacocks that fanned their spectacular feathers. My mother said it was the first time in her life to see a peacock on full display like that!
