12/5/19 – If I had sent out Christmas cards this season, I might have used this photo! But alas, our trip to Mexico kind of made the rest of December pass at lightening speed and I never got around to cards. Regardless, this photo reminds me of a happy afternoon in a far away place with people I love.

12/5/19 (Never finished posting about our Mexico trip, trying to catch up for the #chatbooks) – On Thursday, we took an early morning flight to Oaxaca for 2 days. My parents visit some homes out there for their chicken project and we were lucky enough to tag along and do some sight seeing as well. First stop was lunch at the most serene little open air market/restaurant co-op, La Cosecha (the Harvest). The food was delicious and the atmosphere was heavenly. Logan surprised us by devouring Jake’s plate if chilaquiles, Rush surprised us by eating flautas with avocado salsa, Hailey was serenaded with the song Poco Loco (from Coco), and we all did our best to try everything on all the menus.

Hailey wrote and illustrated a book for a 3rd grade Young Author project. It was a daunting assignment (for her and me both!) but it turned out fantastic and I’m so glad she had this opportunity. Don’t be surprised if Susie’s Bushfire Miracle makes the NYT best-seller list someday!‍♀️ (These were some of her favorite drawings. She’s quite an artist!)
