They punched waves and showed the ocean who’s boss past sunset, but then the ocean showed US who’s boss and swallowed our stuff! Time to go.
Happy Presidents’ Day! Let’s hope this one doesn’t screw America up beyond repair.
These two. Screaming at each other by morning, thick as thieves by afternoon. The beach has magical powers like that.
We couldn’t take any of it home, but Hailey gathered quite the collection of seashells to display on a rock.
No school: Low tide at noon: Blue skies, barely breezy, mid-60s: We saw tons of anemones but no purple sea urchins bc seals were sunning where the urchins hang. I ️ California in February!
Last Thursday was wild! TLDR. Since school was out on Friday, the school Valentine’s Day parties were held a day early. I spent the morning making love robots and eating cheese and crackers with Logan’s kindergarten class ️, then did my regular Friday classroom helping , and then I went to Hailey’s class for more love robots with the 3rd graders, heart hot air balloons, and the usual karaoke until school let out . After school was Girl Scouts, where the girls earned the entire Home Scientist badge by completing 7 (messy) experiments. We made butter, bent water with static, made salt and pepper dance with a balloon, created dinosaur snot, watched a Diet Coke and mentos geyser, made a foamy volcano, and finished with homemade lava lamps. In the middle of all of it, Logan was inhaling valentines candy and playing soccer in the backyard, and he ran inside for a drink of water and then barfed all over the kitchen floor (tried to make it to the garbage can or bathroom but missed…). Jake was on a call in the office and I was in the middle of some kind of chaos with the girls outside, so I just had to cover it with paper towels until I could come back and clean it a half hour later. As soon as I got the kitchen floor cleaned up, someone ran in to tell me that Hailey stepped on the pointy lid of a food coloring bottle and was bleeding. I look up to find a trail of bloodfrom the kitchen to the front door. I hurried and cleaned that up so we could finish our lava lamps before parents arrived to take girls home. We had a quick dinner before taking Rush to Cub Scouts (I think? I have no recollection of eating anything but leftover class party cheese and crackers for every meal that day.) and as soon as I sat down, I got a call from Logan’s scout leaders asking if I was coming to the meeting that started 10 minutes ago. So off we went with our giant box of Duplos so the boys could make a centerpiece for the Blue & Gold dinner next week. Then we picked Hailey up from Jake’s baseball meeting, I got everyone to bed, and started doing dishes for minute but all of a sudden I was so tired I could barely move. So I went to bed. The end.
