Rushton made orange chicken from scratch today, and all I did was fry the chicken. Who needs Panda Express now?! He told us how “content” he was about a thousand times after licking his bowl clean. . Also, shelter in place means all meals at home which means SO. MANY. DIRTY. DISHES. All day long. Definitely not the worst problem in the world, but still!

Coronavirus Quarantine Day 3: I’m pretty sure that this shelter-in-place period will be one of the notable events in our lifetime, so I want to have a record of each day so my kids can remember that we tried to make the most of an uncertain, scary time. . During another scary time in the world’s history, C.S. Lewis wrote, “This is the first point to be made: and the first action to be taken is to pull ourselves together. If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things—praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts—not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds.” . I am so grateful that we have what we need, that Jake already works from home, and that it’s logistically feasible for us to hunker down and lock ourselves inside for the next several weeks All of the cancellations and postponements are extremely disappointing, but staying home is the very least we can do, and we hope and pray that it’s saving lives.

Coronavirus Quarantine Day 1: We’re taking this social distancing thing seriously over here. The universe is making it easier to decide to stay inside by dumping buckets of rain all weekend! A little bit of screen time, a lot of LEGOs, Sculpey clay, and some brainstorming on how we’ll spend the next who-knows-how-long.

Logan shared his leprechaun trap with his kindergarten class on Friday, which will forevermore be known as the day our world came to a screeching halt. He made another one today just because, and said that he’s “so glad that Amazon is a thing so we can have all these nice boxes.” Thanks, @amazon!
